Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Planning
New UK legislation has made 10% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) mandatory for new developments. MPN Landplan are specialists in landscape design and planning, and are able to support you in meeting BNG requirements for upcoming developments in Wiltshire and surrounding counties. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements today.

What is the Biodiversity Net Gain requirement?
Following a significant decline in UK wildlife, the minimum 10% Biodiversity Net Gain requirement was brought into force by the UK government in February 2024. The requirement aims to improve biodiversity across the country. Consequently, developers now have to use a specific calculation to ensure each new project leaves the area’s biodiversity score 10% higher than before.
What does BNG planning include?
The new BNG requirement can be fulfilled in a number of ways, including habitat creation, off-site delivery, and statutory credits are available as a last resort.
BNG and planning permission
Before a new development can begin, developers are required to have an approved BNG plan. However, the new requirements are not applicable to all developments and some smaller developments will be exempt. Discuss your development plans with us today to find out if BNG will be required for your project.
